From Humble Beginnings
Elizabeth always loved cooking – much to the delight of her family – and sweet treats were at the top of the list! One of her signature dishes was a mint-flavoured chocolate honeycomb crisp – the very first Mint Crisp! After going on sale in her brother-in-law’s shop, these treats were so in demand that Elizabeth couldn’t keep up! As business flourished, it was clear that a brand name was needed and Elizabeth Shaw was born.
The Evolution of Elizabeth Shaw
As popularity grew, a modest kitchen became a larger one, then a larger one, it was not long until a factory was running in full force. Production lines replaced pots and pans as appetite increased for Elizabeth Shaw’s decadent treats. The produce was so delicious that the Queen Mother was a big fan of her Peppermint Creams, so much so that during the Second World War, she would send sweet coupons to Elizabeth Shaw to make sure she wasn’t without her next box! It was no surprise that the company was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1963, after years of supplying Royal households with their sweet tooth fixes!
Skipping forward a few years and Elizabeth Shaw was sold to a famously innovative factory in Bristol and has long since proceeded to be a huge success. To this day, Elizabeth Shaw continues to treat the world to decadent goodies which always stay true to Elizabeth’s original vision – beautiful chocolate experiences with a luxurious twist.
