Why did we open a new warehouse in The Netherlands?
Due to Brexit the opening of this warehouse was a necessity if we wanted to be able to continue supplying our customers with a good range of British products. Had we continued to use our UK-based warehouse we would only have been able to deliver vegan products (i.e. no trace of animal product in sight), and living in a world where we couldn’t send customers a proper bar of British chocolate wasn’t something we were prepared to do – hence the new EU warehouse was born!
Why is the range of products smaller for the EU post-Brexit?
Having a warehouse outside of the UK means we have significantly more complex supply chains. Therefore, we reduced the range to EU customers to those we knew were the most popular, to keep the process as simple as possible and avoid any issues which may reduce the quality of our service. However, we are aiming to increase the range over the next few months.
Other issues which restrict our range are the fact we are restricted on how many of each product we can ship to The Netherlands in one delivery, and also because the warehouse space in The Netherlands is smaller we aren’t able to keep such a big supply of the fast selling products on the shelves.
Why are the products I want out of stock?
Like many businesses, we are coming up against ongoing challenges with our supply chain due to issues such as labour shortages and transport issues exacerbated by Covid-19 and Brexit. On top of this we’re seeing a big demand for our service as fewer people are able to travel back to the UK and are spending more time in their homes.
As a result, we’re experiencing low availability in some of our ranges.
When will these issues be resolved?
We are working hard behind the scenes to get our customers’ favourite products back in stock as soon as possible. More stock is arriving each week in both warehouses and we’re also in discussions with new UK-based suppliers who will be able to help us supplement the products we’re struggling to get.
Why has delivery been taking longer than the 1-2 days originally promised?
Since launching our new EU service from The Netherlands we’ve been recruiting and training our warehouse team, which has taken time to build up.
It was taking up to a week to dispatch orders but now we are fully operational and dispatching within 1-2 days as promised.
Delivery times now should be faster than pre-Brexit as the starting point for the order is from The Netherlands rather than the UK.
