#Queen Elizabeth II – A Magnificent Life

Following sad news of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, we are paying our utmost respect, and our thoughts are with all those across not only the UK but the entire world. For the majority of us, the Queen has been the only monarch we’ve known – she is the longest serving and longest living monarch in British history, reigning for over 70 years. Her work ethic, compassion and dedication to others has been a true inspiration to us all. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on the amazing life led by our Majesty.

Queen Elizabeth II became Queen at the young age of 25 and has devotedly served this country right to the end of her long life. During her 70+ years as Queen, she has shown a huge dedication and duty to public and voluntary service, with links to over 600 charities that cover a range of issues such as protection of the environment and opportunities for young people.

She showed a dedication to her work from a young age, even before she became Queen. During World War Two, Elizabeth and her sister Margaret were evacuated to Windsor, where they radio broadcasted to the nation for Children's Hour on the BBC, offering words of encouragement to children who had been separated from their families. Toward the end of the war, the young princess joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) where she learnt how to drive and service a lorry – becoming the first woman in the Royal Family to be an active member of the Armed Forces of Britain.

The Queen travelled far and wide, visiting 117 different countries during her reign. She has visited every Commonwealth country as well as many more, carrying out 290 state visits since her ascension to the throne in 1952.

We’re so pleased to have been able to enable expats and supporters of the Royal Family all around the world to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. Seeing photographs of our customers celebrating our Majesty across the globe was a true testament to the admiration felt for her by everyone. We sent commemorative Jubilee products to many countries from Australia to the USA.

Not only did Queen Elizabeth live a rich life serving our country and the Commonwealth, but she was a devoted wife and mother who raised four children, including our new King, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will all miss her dearly. We all will.

"I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong." – Queen Elizabeth II
