This week, Buckhingham Palace released details of the ceremonial, celebratory and community events due to take place between Saturday 6th and Monday 8th May - the Coronation Weekend.

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will occur at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May, 2023. The service will be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The service will reflect the role of the new Monarch today and in the future - you can expect to see many longstanding traditions and pageantry take place.

Across the weekend, there will be opportunities for the British public to come together to celebrate this historic occasion. On Sunday, 7th May 2023, a special Coronation Concert will be staged at Windsor Castle. This will be broadcasted live by the BBC/BBC Studios, and several thousand pairs of tickets to the concert will be made available via public ballot.

The Coronation Big Lunch, whereby neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country - and the world - on the same Sunday. Whether that's just a a cup of tea with a neighbour, to a street party with the whole cul-de-sac, a Coronation Big Lunch will bring the celebrations to your front door and offers a great way to socialise within your community.

On Monday, 8th May 2023, members of the British public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, to encourage people to try out volunteering in their local areas. It is hoped that the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation will be demonstrated hugely across the Coronation Weekend.

The Coronation Weekend will not only be a major moment in British history to be remembered for years to come, but will also provide an opportunity for people to spend time and celebrate with friends, families and communities across the United Kingdom and beyond.
