When springtime rolls around most of us are (hopefully) starting to feel a bit less gloomy. With the weather finally getting brighter and warmer; spring usually means the start of barbeques, days out walking around in nature, or time spent relaxing in the garden with a drink in hand. With this in mind, here are our top 8 British drinks to try this spring.

1) Robinsons No Added Sugar Lemon Squash

It’s safe to say that when it comes to squash, Robinson’s reigns supreme for us Brits. There are just so many tasty and refreshing flavours to try! Our favourite choice for spring is the Lemon Squash. The zingy, sour-yet-sweet taste of lemon is perfect for a mild spring day. An ideal choice for making up a big jug with ice and some added lemon wedges to enjoy at home or to pop in a bottle and drink on the go.

2) Cawston Press Apple and Rhubarb Juice

Spring is officially Rhubarb season, so of course, a juice involving this classic British vegetable is a wonderful spring beverage. The combination of apple and rhubarb is a delight for the tastebuds. Why not go whole-hog on your rhubarb consumption and enjoy this drink with a slice of the classic British dessert – rhubarb crumble and custard.

3) Gin and Tonic

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel to enjoy a truly great drink, and the iconic British beverage of Gin and Tonic is no exception. This fantastic combination has been enjoyed for years, and for good reason. We recommend mixing the Devonshire-made Salcombe Start Point Gin with the wonderfully light combination of cucumber and elderflower tonic. For those of you who aren’t interested in the hard stuff, Salcombe also offers a non-alcoholic version. So you too can enjoy this wonderfully British springtime classic.

4) Lucozade Sport Rasberry

It goes without saying that many of us have probably consumed copious amounts of chocolate over Easter. So, with Easter over and summer fast approaching, many of us want to try to get healthier in spring. Plus, after practically an entire year in lockdown, many of us are feeling the need to get out and exercise even more than usual! For all this exercise, you will need a refreshing and energising sports drink to keep you hydrated. That’s where Lucozade comes in – their fruity new raspberry sports drink is the ideal drink for any activity this spring.

5) Pimms

Pimms is one of the most iconic British spring drinks out there. There’s nothing better on a warm spring or summer day than having a garden party and enjoying a lovely jug of Pimms with friends. To make your Pimms truly amazing try using Fever-Tree’s Refreshingly Light Sicilian Lemonade and adding plenty of fruit, cucumber, and mint to your mixture!

6) Pukka Organic 3 Mint Tea

We couldn’t have a British drinks list without including at least one tea! While many of you may be partial to the classic brew, why not try a herbal tea this spring? As well as tasting great, mint tea also has a number of health benefits including relieving headaches, improving digestion, and improving sleep. Pukka’s 3 mint tea contains 100% non-GM and ethically sourced ingredients and is caffeine-free. It is also good for the environment as the packaging is recyclable, and each tea bag is wildlife friendly to compost.

7) Westons Old Rosie The Original Cloudy Cider

One thing many ex-pats will tell you is that nowhere in the world quite does cider like Britain does. In fact, we Brits love our cider so much that 56% of the apples grown in the UK are dedicated to making cider. There is evidence that this classic drink has been around in the UK (thanks to our Celtic ancestors) since 3000BC! Nowadays there are tonnes of choices of cider to choose from and, while we love them all, we here at British Corner Shop think you cannot beat Original Cloudy Cider for spring.

8) Capri Sun Orange No Added Sugar

Last, but certainly not least, we couldn’t mention springtime drinks without including something for the kiddies! For many adults, Capri Sun is the ultimate nostalgic drink we used to love as a child. So, why not pass it on and let your little ones appreciate this iconic drink. Luckily Capri Sun has moved on from the sugary sweet offerings of our youth, and now little ones can enjoy these drinks with no added sugar!
